Several factors influence the number of flights over a given location:
- Airline Schedules: Flight frequency fluctuates daily, weekly and seasonally as airlines adjust schedules based on consumer demand, particularly around holiday periods.
- Runway Usage: The active runway at any given time is primarily determined by wind conditions. Each runway has dedicated flight paths, meaning different areas experience varying levels of air traffic depending on which runway is in use. As runway operations change, so too do flight paths and the areas affected.
- North Runway Operations: The North Runway has restricted hours of use, and currently operates between 7am and 11pm, with exceptions for safety reasons and essential maintenance.
